Sleep Apnea Home Monitoring Test
The Snoring and Sleep Apnea Treatment Centers use 2 types of Home Monitoring units. These units can be used right in the comfort of your own home. Your doctor will determine if the use of one of the home monitoring units is right for you at the time of your initial consultation.

Watch-PAT 100
Most people don’t even know they have it. Yet, nearly 20 million
people go undiagnosed each year in the US alone.

The problem, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), is interrupted breathing
that occurs during sleep. Most often characterized by snoring, heavy
breathing and choking, OSA can be relatively easy to treat, once it is
diagnosed. However, due to an uncomfortable diagnostic method that
includes spending the night wired to equipment in a sleep lab (while trying to sleep), only 10% of patients with OSA are ever appropriately identified.
An innovative clinical tool is now available at OsteoMed II that allows the diagnosis of OSA in the comfort of your own bed. The WatchPAT100 (WP100) is convenient, easy to use and proven to be as accurate as sleep lab testing for diagnosing your sleep disturbance.

The WP100 makes diagnosing sleep apnea easy and convenient. Weighing in at approximately 3 ounces, the glove-like device fits comfortably on your non-dominant hand while probes are attached to the ends of two fingers. The tiny computer on your wrist measures Peripheral Arterial Tone (PAT), the critically important indicator for diagnosing OSA. In addition, blood oxygen concentrations, body movements and sleep/wake cycles are also recorded. After wearing the unit overnight, a report can be generated immediately upon returning the equipment to the office the morning after your test. Studies have confirmed that there is a >90% correlation between readings obtained by the WP100 and those obtained in a sleep lab for the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea.

In addition to sleep apnea, the device is an indicator of adrenal stress. If you are struggling to breath, stress is placed on internal organs, particularly the adrenals and the heart. Long-standing, untreated sleep apnea can lead to an increased risk of hypertension, stroke, cardiovascular disease, depression, memory loss, weight gain, impotence and even increase the risk of sudden death.
Treatment suggestions may include: allergy elimination; acupuncture; further testing for thyroid imbalances; or a referral for dental appliance or for a C-PAP machine. Medication, nutritional recommendations and exercise suggestions may also be offered by your physician.

Remmers Sleep Recorder
SagaTech manufactures and markets the Remmers Sleep Recorder which records diagnostic indicators of sleep apnea, detects periodic leg movements in adults, and monitors the effectiveness of CPAP therapy.
The Remmers Sleep Recorder is convenient and easy to use; the client attaches the necessary probes so that no technician or specialist need be present. A Windows™-based software package is included, providing data analysis on a personal computer and display of processed and unprocessed data. Test results are presented in a convenient, reliable, and inexpensive manner. The Remmers Sleep Recorder has been approved for sale in Canada and the USA.

The Remmers Sleep Recorder (Formerly SnoreSat™) records signals that are commonly used in diagnosing patients who are suspected of having sleep apnea. These signals are:
• Blood oxygen saturation
• Heart Rate
• Pulseamplitude
• Nasal airflow (through nasal cannula pressure measurement)
• Respiratory airflow (through pnemotachograph when CPAP is used)
• Mask pressure (when CPAP is used)
• Snoring sound
• Body position
• Respiratory movements

The Remmers Sleep Recorder also records electromyograms which can be used in the diagnosis of other sleep disorders.
• Leg electromyograms for the diagnosis of periodic leg movements
• Masseter electromyograms for the diagnosis of bruxism
